Haunt Me

your shocking phoenix flared
(so long ago),
burned hungry holes,
through the marching child who led,
through the undone papercut hero who followed,

sent out threads of fire through a void of time,
bursting through the glass on your pictures now,
lighting up the sepia dust,
your rainbow stained shards
pierce me through,
chiming,
striped echoes of our universes
radiate like silver circles,
like splashing raindrops round your eyes,
our distorted laughter so simple,
our big scenes bleached of context.

some harmonic residue of heat
from your dying skin,
you are here -
in the infinite, hidden among the humdrum,
in the vacuum, folded through the maelstrom.
i know you're here
why don't you haunt me?
