Like Water

Everything looks like water tonight
Flowing back to see you
Over deep pool fields
Reflecting twilight from every grain

The railway sidings shine like hoarfrost
But rapeseed burns fresh.
The sky is clear and calm
But my eyes make sea snakes
Writhing storm across the horizon

Body of the land seeps into me
In dying sunlight vapour.
I am a drop of blood
Tasting iron of artery walls.
Slammed away, you lured me back

Silver fluid takes shape of road,
Meadow bowls and perfect sine wave rooftops,
And the grainy track that carries me.
And what form will you take tonight?
